The goal of ParkingSLC.com is to provide downtown visitors with the information needed to find easy and convenient parking in the appropriate place, based on their needs and to learn about the new and improved options for paying for parking.
We surveyed 406 residents in Salt Lake and Davis County in the summer of 2013 and found overwhelmingly positive perceptions of the changes in parking downtown. Download the survey here.
Parking at a meter can be more expensive than parking in a garage or lot, where there are also less time restrictions. Essentially, you pay for the convenience of a space on-street close to your destination. Parking on-street is in the highest demand and is also the most limited. In fact, there are 10 times as many garage and lot spots as on-street spots.
Drivers who plan to be downtown for more than 2 hours should plan on parking in a garage or lot, not on the street. On-street parking should be open and available for people who need to run errands or shop in a relatively short amount of time – under two hours.
